[ Burl ]

Burl has endured for centuries as a material associated with rarity and quiet opulence. In the 17th and 18th centuries it was prized in Italian, French and English furniture, particularly in walnut burl cabinets and desks. It resurfaced during the Art Deco era with polished, glamorous finishes, and again in mid-century design through bold, sculptural forms.

Burl always feels rare. Artistic. Luxurious.

Interior designer Tatjana von Stein describes burl as a “conceptual juxtaposition.” Historically considered a noble wood, it is in fact formed from a growth on a tree, often the result of stress or irregularity. A reminder that beauty can emerge from imperfection.

[ Sustainability ]

Burl is a natural growth on a tree. Harvesting the burl does not require felling the entire tree. In the case of olive trees, careful cutting can allow the tree to continue producing olives, redirecting energy back into growth.

For us, this matters.

We work in small batches and made-to-order production, reducing excess and ensuring every sheet of veneer is selected with purpose. Sustainability is not treated as a marketing statement. It is embedded in how we source, produce and design.

True longevity is the most responsible approach to luxury.
